BOTWOT: "You can't be found guilty for being found innocent."
by John Vining posted September 23, 2008
» MTV's former-mainstay TRL will be ending its run after 10 years with a celebratory final show. The show peaked in '99, a year after it started, and now isn't so much worth keeping around. This end, however, is just a break, says executive producer, David Sirulnick.

» Paul McCartney has responded to previously-reported claims that Lennon wanted a gay relationship with him. His logic: if he was gay, I'd've seen him being gay when he was real drunk. Also: His ex-"wife" donated a bunch of vegan food to poor New Yorkers, people who probably want a real hamburger.

» Eloquence incarnate: R. Kelly is trying to get people to stop bugging him about that child porn thing. Again, some excellent reasoning: "If you were charged with something and found innocent, then you can't be found guilty for being found innocent." Although he may not be the only one being unclear; when asked if he was into teenagers, he made sure to get the question straight: "When you say teenage, how old do you mean?"

» The Obama campaign is getting an official soundtrack, which will cost $25 digital and $30 tangible, proceeds of course headed to Obama. The CD was created by a group called Hidden Beach Recordings, who named the disc, "Yes We Can: Voices of a Grassroots Movement." The CD features Kanye West, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer and others. Pretty grassroots, there.

» The Rest, in short: Classical-only music download store Piassionato opens; Similarly, a store with digital versions of rare vinyl tracks has opened, called DJ History; Noel Gallagher wants to write sitcoms with Russell Brand; Best Buy picks up Napster; Colbert grabs Costello, Fiest and others for a Christmas special; Travis Barker and DJ AM, who were in a plane crash this week, are expected to recover; A new Mozart piece is found.

» Obits, in short: Pink Floyd founder Richard Wright, 65; Session drummer Earl Palmer, 89; Motown songwriter Norman Whitfield, 65; Motown PR-man Bob Jones; Piano-maker Henry Steinway, 93; Composer Mauricio Kagel, 76; Jazz trumpeter Richard M. Sudhalter, 69.
