» The UK's Open Rights Group has disclosed that 80% of musicians would be receiving less than 30 euros a year if the term of copyright was nearly doubled. The ORG has stated this in response to claims that these extension of copyright terms would help old, aging musicians keep afloat. They say that 90% of the extra money created by the extended term would go to record labels.

» Oasis' Noel Gallagher was attacked on stage in Canada during the band's rendition of "Morning Glory." Noel's brother Liam tried to throw a punch, but that didn't work and everyone ended up offstage with the lights on. Oasis continued their set, and Noel was checked out in a hospital. Also: Oasis has street musicians play their new single in NYC.

» Word on the street is that Lennon wanted to freak McCartney. This comes from a new book by the "respected Beatles author" Philip Norman, "John Lennon: the Life." We hear he also dreamt about sleeping with his mother.

» Madonna, while touring Rome, dedicated "Like a Virgin" to the Pope. This, of course, is only the most recent episode in her continual fuck-you to the pope and his little church.

» The Rest, in short: Jack White is bummed that his 007 theme is first heard in a Coke advert; Steve Martin will release a record of his own banjo music; Brian Eno does the soundtrack to the new Will Wright game Spore; Reuters chronicles the pure in music; B.B. King museum is about to open; On MySpace's free music service; A new Kayne West song is premeried at the VMA's; Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor says labels are at fault for piracy; Yes tours with YouTube-found replacement; Prince is set to release a coffee-table book and new CD; Branson brings Virgin concerts to South Africa.

» Obits, in short: Producer, arranger and composer Hector Zazou, 60.
