Overtired & Ill Prepared (Adelaide)

This album is an all around great addition to your collection. It changes from a powerful starting track entitled "Starting Line" down to the second song called "Giving Up On Progress," a more laid back and straight forward song. The whole album changes dynamic constantly making the listener be unknowing to what could happen next. The tight drums and bass are prominent themselves onto every song on the CD. Giving it a normal base to lay back on while all of the other instruments add parts that accentuate what the bass and drums are doing.

Track by track, the disc is exceptional. Almost all of the songs could be deemed as very successful singles, however only 2 have been released as of now. The second track "Giving up on Progress" and the sixth track "Hard to Find." The first single is the model song for this band. It is generally lighter in the verse allowing the great harmonies to shine. While in the chorus the song adds in the other guitar and a heavier band as a whole. The bridge not only makes this song complete but also is more aggressive than the chorus and lets the song end on a high note.

"Hard to Find" is similar in song structure, but totally different in arrangement. The song is much faster and more of an indie-rock song. The bass line is the best part of the song. Its not just and underlying instrument because at some points it covers up the lead guitar line, and that's a good thing. Perhaps the most impressive thing is the bassline in the bridge and the harmony done by the bass player at the same time. Its incredible to see live.

The album takes off in many directions from these two tracks. After "Hard to Find" the album calms down with the title track, a very mellow song. And after that its back up to the loud club rock band that they are. "America" gently brings up the mood from Overtired and prepares you for "Misdirection and Off Set Cues," the song that ends a concert

The album has earned a spot the CD case that I only put my favorite CDs in. I think that everyone should make an attempt to hear this album if you haven't already.
