Don't Close Your Eyes (Parkway Drive)
by R. Price posted December 11, 2004
"Don't Close Your Eyes" is the third release from Parkway Drive, the brutal band from Byron Bay. Parkway Drive was formed in early 2003 after the split of 2 local bands, Blueprint for a Nightmare and Think Straight, and their sound varies from sweet and melodic to pure brutality with shattering breakdowns guaranteed to get everyone moving.

This 8 track EP is a hard-hitting, brutal assault, with some melodic passages inserted to add some more interest. It's a guaranteed favourite for lovers of anything heavy.

The lead off track titled "…" is an eerie, frightening interlude that cannot be described by words, a must listen to track. It leads into track 2, "Smoke em if you got em", a blistering track with brutal breakdowns and intensity unrivalled on any EP I've ever heard. It also has a nice melodic section before breaking back into the heavier sections.

This intensity continues through the rest of the CD only taking a rest in small sections before driving home one of the best EP's ever.

Stand out tracks are "Smoke em if you got em", "You're Over" and "Don't close youe eyes".

Look out for big things from Parkway Drive as they are undeniably awesome.
